After all, your demo are going to be the ones to buy your products or pass on them. So, you need to keep them in mind when designing your product to begin with, and you need to keep them in mind when advertising. For example, ads for the elderly are different from ads for young people, and if you’re selling skateboards, for example, you’re going to want to appeal to the latter demo. This means higher energy ads featuring young actors, if not professional skaters. If you’re advertising to the elderly, the tone of your ad should reflect that by exhibiting more restraint and respect. Knowing your demo can come down to a lot of research, first of all, but also focus groups to help you refine your approach to your products and ad campaigns. Taking a small sampling of your demo and getting feedback is invaluable.
